What you should be wearing this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time to express what it is in life that we are thankful for. And what’s the one thing every fashionista is thankful for more than anything? Their closet! So let’s give thanks to the fabulous designers who have made our lives so much more chic and dress our best this Thursday. Whether you’re off to Mom and Dad’s house this weekend or it’s cocktails at The Plaza, here’s the top picks from this season’s hottest trends for what exactly you should be wearing this Thanksgiving weekend.

For those of you off to more formal affairs, but still want to be able to eat your weight in stuffing, these are my favorite looks for a dressed up yet comfortable apperance.

Try a dress with stretch, in a rich seasonal color such as navy, burgundy, or green. Top it off with a classic trench coat in a fresh updated color like rust or khaki green and some fabulous booties, you’ll be the best dressed attendee hands down. Looking effortlessly chic couldn’t be easier.

If the Thanksgiving Day festivities require a more formal outfit, try a special occasion dress that comes in a bold print or is embroidered in gems. Pair it off with a classic pair of heels and make sure to not to get anywhere close to the cranberry sauce!

This is one of my favorite outfit combinations, wide leg pants in a rich color matched with a comfortable sweater embroidered with a beautiful floral design. No need to break out the sweatpants for dinner, wide legs will give you all the room you need to fill up on sweet potatoes and yams!

If you’re off to a day filled with more casual events, like watching the parade at Mom’s or dinner at the grandparents, here are my top casual looks to still look presentable in those dreaded family photos after you’ve eaten about 50 lbs of turkey and gravy, without having to break out the yoga pants.

My favorite casual looks are always ones that still look clean and polished. It’s easy to be comfortable without looking like you’ve just rolled off the elliptical at Lifetime Fitness. There is an art to dressing casual.

For the fashionistas out there that are sipping coffee and amping up to take on the Black Friday lines at 3am, heres a cozy, casual look that can take you straight from Mom’s couch to Nordstrom’s front door without having to make a single change. Comfy and chic, the best of both worlds.

Fill up on all your favorite traditional foods no matter where your Thanksgiving takes you. And remember that the day is about enjoying time with your loved ones. Have a glass of Chardonnay for me lovies, Gobble Gobble.

“May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey plump, may your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump. May your yams be delicious and your pies take the prize, and may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs!”
